Question: do you have to buy full coverage insurance?
( Back )
Answer #1:
If you are financing a car, most companies require that you carry full insurance. And by full, I am assuming that you mean comp and collision. I don't think the state has anything to do with it. Most states only require comp.Answer #2:
it's better just in case you do get in a car accident or even if it get stolen so can get a new car.Answer #3:
yes you do and that's the big killer.Answer #4:
Yes, you will be required to carry collision and comp. Some have requirements on the deductible too. If you are leasing the car some even requir that you carry a higher Bodily Injury limit like 100/300.Answer #5:
In the vast majority of cases if the dealership, finance company or bank is providing the financing of a vehicle, they will require that you carry comprehensive and collision with no more than a $500 deductible. If the vehicle is leased, the leasing company will not only require comprehensive and collision but also liability limits of at least $100,000 per person bodily injury, $300,000 per accident bodily injury and $100,000 property damage liability. The state where you live will also have minimum requirements for liability insurance and probably uninsured motorist coverage and or other coverage such as personal injury protection or medical expense. In my opinion you would be wise to also purchase GAP insurance or have it included in your policy since the current economic downturn has severely affected and will continue to affect car values and can therefore result in your owing more than you would receive from the insurance company if you were to have a total loss claim.
You should consult a local independent agent to assist you in selecting the appropriate coverage for your individual circumstances at the best rate possible by quoting you with multiple companies.
I hope this helps. Good Luck!
