Question: 2 door car with a child? experience?

( Back )

Answer #1:

its worth it anyways ur almost 18 when ur 18 u can do watever u want but its not that bad when u have a 2 door car with 1 child all u do is push the seat back my moms friend has 2 kids and 2 nephews and used a two door cas and she had a 3 year old she had a car seat there was no problen so i think its worth it

Answer #2:

You like your back, don't you? Then I would advise you not to go for the early hump in the back by getting a coup. You can get a way cool sedan... but you most def shouldn't throw out your back for a "cool car"

Answer #3:

Aside from it being a HUGE pain in the butt, a two door car isn't safe.
I know safety is not one of those things you really think about when you are a kid (which is why kids shouldn't have kids) but you are a mom now. And when you have a child, safety is the first thing you are supposed to think about when buying a car. Not appearance.

Answer #4:

they probably dont want to get you the car because its a two door, and those are usually smaller cars and are much less safe in a crash, they can crumple like a tin can and can flip much easier, and are worried about you driving with the baby, you may be a good driver, but not everyone else on the road is. my aunt and uncle had a two door, actually that same car that you want, and after having my little cousin, they sold in in months because they were so tired of having to take twenty minutes to get him in and out of it and its really hard on the back, plus it was making him uncomfortable since they had to put him in from a arms length distance. plus they would have had to get rid of it soon anyway cause it has barely any back seat space and they could never fit a toddler sized car seat back there. i know two doors are really cool, but you have a child now to think of and you want to do whats best for him, even if that means a less cool car. im sure you can find a safe practical car that looks really cool to, and if they dont want to pay for it, dont be too bugged about it, they got you the first car, just save up your money and buy the car you want, but try to stay away from the two doors.

Answer #5:

I had a two door car with my first child and I don't remember it being a big problem. The child is actually safer because they can't roll down windows or open doors on their own. It really isn't a big hassle to get them in and out of the car. No more of a hassle then having to walk to the back of the car and open another door to get them out. I have a minivan now and my youngest is in a car seat. I take her out the same way I would with a two door car - lift my seat forward and take her out her chair.

Answer #6:

My experience with a two door is going to be completely irrelavant to your wanted car- we have a two door toyota 4runner. It DOESN'T have that sloping roof which makes a HUGE difference to ease of getting a child in and out of a car seat.
I liked the fact that I could put my son in his car seat and then move to my seat without getting wet when it was raining (big plus), I loved the fact that the two door prevents kids from winding down windows and opening doors while the car is moving.
However a four door is MUCH easier to get a child in and out of, it's easier to carry multiple passengers as the passenger in the front does not have to get out every time somebody wants to get in or out of the car, two doors often have VERY limited leg room in the back- once your kid hits school age that car you want is going to be too small.
Two doors often do not have enough boot space for a stroller, I should know- we've had three! We actually sold our first car because it did not have enough room to carry a stroller.

Also- that car you are looking at is VERY popular with teen boys- that means insurance is THROUGH THE ROOF on it, yes it is cute but it is NOT practical. They have NO boot space, the back seat is cramped, and then there is the cost of repairs and insurance- Plus the whole thing just SCREAMS Mid-Life Crisis!
I see that car and I think middle aged man clinging WAY to hard to his youth.

Answer #7:

I HATED IT! And your child is only going to get heavier. Its not that it killed my back or hurt or anything, it was just super annoying!!! I only had it for my daughter's first six months of life, but it would be worse as they are growing into toddlers, it was a pain to buckle the car seat and everything. I don't suggest it at all.

Answer #8:

I had a two door car when I had my daughter, a 1999 Ford Mustang to be exact. It was such a pain. Mustang's are really small and not meant for any type of family vehicle. My daughters infant car seat was so big that the front passenger seat wouldn't even lock in place because the car seat pushed up against it, which meant no one could ride with me (not comfortably or safely anyway) without sitting up in the dash board...it was terrible. I couldn't put the car seat behind the driver seat, because then the car seat wouldn't allow the driver seat to go back far enough for me to drive, it was so inconvenient. I really think you should stick with a four door. It is so much more safe, convenient, and comfortable. I now have a 4 door vehicle, a Ford escape, and it is so much more better and roomier. Two door vehicle's are small and compact, which makes driving with passengers (especially a child) dangerous. I know accidents can happen, but a roomier vehicle isn't as likely to get totally destroyed in a crash. However, a small two door car is a lot more dangerous to have a bad crash or collision. I hope this helps.
