Question #1:

Can somebody proofread this essay?

Make sure commas, semicolons, and everything is used correctly?

Fundamental Writing Essay Ch. 13

Writing an essay is a rather intricate thing to do, but if you follow a few easy steps writing an essay can be almost as easy as answering questions. Chapter thirteen in Sentences, Paragraphs, and Essays, a textbook written by Lee and Kelly Brandon, explains these steps to writing a very well developed essay. The book contains content on special paragraphs such as introductions and conclusions, and shows the relation of an essay to paragraphs. In fact, this paragraph is considered to be an introduction. However chapter thirteen looks deeper into what an introduction is.

Introductions do many things: attract the reader’s attention, states the topic of the essay, and transitions the reader to the paragraphs in the body of the essay. Most writers struggle and have problems with introductions; specifically the first sentence which in most instances tends to be the topic sentence. There are a few easy methods for the troubled writer who is trying to formulate a professional introduction. These methods include: directly stating the topic, giving some background information on the topic, defining a specific term that relates to the topic of the essay, a quotation, a shocking statement or attention getter, or a question. The writer should select the method that will be most effective for the target audience. When attempting to transition from the introduction to the body paragraphs, the writer may find themselves in another stalemating predicament. The solution for the once again troubled writer would be to try and think of a creative way to show the closure of the paragraph and lead the audience’s attention into a closer look on the subject at hand.

Conclusions seem to be another part of the essay writing process that stumps writers. Many writers find themselves basically rewriting their introduction. This can make the writing very unprofessional. Conclusions unlike introductions should not continue to grab the reader’s attention but should inform the reader that all the main points have been discussed and that it is time for closure. A person should never “copy and paste” the introduction into the conclusion section of an essay. Rewording the topic statement in different words is acceptable, but complete repetition of the introduction is not. Effective conclusion writing methods include: restating the thesis in different words, reviewing the main points of the discussion, an anecdote relating to the topic, and/or a quote related to the topic at hand. Each of those techniques is a specific and simple procedure on how to write the beginning of a conclusion.

Another great point the textbook emphasizes is how the many simple actions of a writer tie together to form an essay. Words make sentences, sentences make paragraphs, and paragraphs make essay. It illustrated the process of converting thoughts and statements into a well organized and legible essay. Also, the text does an excellent job explaining many features of writing such as: outlining what an essay is, the particular parts of an essay, using graphs, creating introductions, formulating the body of the essay, and how to construct a professional conclusion. The chapter even includes bullets referencing what type of content and material should be contained in each particular paragraph.

Attempting to write an essay is not the easiest obstacle to master, but by following simple steps it can be done. Many methods are available to the writer trying to create introductions and conclusions, and by keeping these methods in mind, the struggle of trying to write an essay should lighten. In the end, the writer should have created a clear, well constructed, professional essay.

Question #2:

What does she mean WHY? Isn't saying " I care" enough? 10 pts?

Now before I begin I'm not trying to downgrade woman or place them in a lower standard. This question is basely sole on my experience with one woman and the sort of confusion messages or signals she have given me.so here it goes

I have very strong feelings for a certain woman and after two weeks of us not being on speaking term I decide to fold and just let it all lose....So my exact words to her was that I really really care for u alot even if we had our difference as of lately....In a return reply I get..why do you care for me?...I mean really why does she want to know why?...Doesn't the old saying goes" Action speak louder than words" Why do she feel the need to ask me why?

So being the sensitive guy that i am I told her why I care about her without giving her a "Bold N The Beautiful" type answer but still very much detail. I think ask if I was wrong for caring and hear what she had to say and I quote "No your not wrong.. but I was actually looking for a reason of why you care but you couldn't give it to me,but it's ok.Enjoy the rest of your day.

Like WTF. You mean to tell me that I swallowed my pride and spoke what I felt and I still get a reply like this?

WTH Do she actually mean?

Question #3:

Liberals: do you agree with this Barack Obama quote?

"UPS and FedEx are doing just fine, right? It's the Post Office that's always having problems."
–attempting to make the case for government-run healthcare, while simultaneously undercutting his own argument, Portsmouth, N.H., Aug. 11, 2009

Question #4:

The second amendment, interpretation?

I often hear arguments from liberals who are against the 2nd amendment that the language involved is open to interpretation because we don't know what they mean by the right to bear arms. In regards to that statement I looked up a quote by Thomas Jefferson that might clear up what the 2nd amendment means. Tell me what you think!

A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.
Thomas Jefferson

Question #5:

Is this quote by Winston Churchill right or wrong?

Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains

Question #6:

Is there a link between these two versus in the Koran?

And the sun runs to a specific destination, such is the design of the Noble, the Knowledgeable. And the moon We have measured it to appear in stages, until it returns to being like an old curved sheath. The sun is not to overtake the moon, nor will the night precede the day; each of them is swimming in its own orbit. ( 36:38-40)

The koran states that the sun 'swims' This claim is backed up by this quote.

[18.86] Until when he reached the place where the sun set, he found it going down into a black sea, and found by it a people. We said: O Zulqarnain! either give them a chastisement or do them a benefit.

Here is the context of the above quote:
[18.83] And they ask you about Zulqarnain. Say: I will recite to you an account of him.
[18.84] Surely We established him in the land and granted him means of access to every thing.
[18.85] So he followed a course.
[18.86] Until when he reached the place where the sun set, he found it going down into a black sea, and found by it a people. We said: O Zulqarnain! either give them a chastisement or do them a benefit.

Does that not imply that the sun swims in a muddy pond?
History: Many critics of islam use the muddy pool quote as a scientific fallacy of the koran. In response the islamic answer is that it;s not literal. But if one links the verse i provided with the muddy pond verse, then there is a clear connection.
Only intelligent answers please.
If i receive no answers from a learned islamic scholar, then why should i not believe that islam is refuted?
the two versus are not irrelevant. They both confirm that the sun 'swims.'
yes, you are right. the word Yasbahoon does relate to rotation. Thank you for using rational arguments. Peace.

Please, i want intelligent answers only.
I don't mean to incite hatred. I just want to know if their is a justification for this.
History: Many critics of islam use the muddy pool quote as a scientific fallacy of the koran. In response the islamic answer is that it;s not literal. But if one links the verse i provided with the muddy pond verse, then there is a clear connection.
If you are not learned in the koran, or only wish to incite hatred don't answer.
Unless you speak arabic, the consensus is that Yasbahoon means swimming.

The state controls well over 90 percent of the economy, paying workers salaries of about $20 a month in return for free health care and education, and nearly free transportation and housing. At least a portion of every citizen's food needs are sold to them through ration books at heavily subsidized prices.

Question #16:

Okay, this girl is reaaaly confusing me )): help?

Okay so I'll just give the cliff notes of how all this went down. Oh and don't let how it may sound fool you because it wasn'tas smooth sailing as you might think. and if you're asking, yes I did feel that sense of "I'm an idiot" while writing this.

-Met this girl by getting her number and talking to her for a looong time

- I'm not sure if she expected more cuz I'm not the best looking guy out there but far from de worst. anyway she still giggled and smiled when she saw me.

-Thanks to a bet we had, She took off her panties before we walked into the theater and I finger f**ked her during the movie...but she's bisexual.

-I did it again while we were in the booth at bubba gump restaurant(I was so shameless back then)

-A few days later I called her asking if she really had any feelings for me and we had a heart to heart and she SAID that she didn't but there's more to it.

- We ended up going to prom together and first thing we did was find a private place then made out(for about ten seconds then my gym teacher caught us)

-she sat on my lap and(stupid me) asked if she liked me. but she sat on my lap and said "i like you" in the sweetest voice.

- well the date ended and i had my arm wrapped around her the ride home ( She asked "why are you so warm" in the ride before we got to the dance and snuggled with me then)

-after wards we hadn't really talked in a while. I mean when we first met we'd talk all the time(I mean literally going whole nights w/o sleep) but then and lately we don't really talk at all.

-next came the summer and my 18th birthday where we spent the whole day at six flags. She lifted up her shirt enough to show off her tummy but wasn't so into me hugging her and such. when I asked her about it, she said she doesn't like PDA with guys. and I quote "if you were a hot girl then I'd not mind"

-but I managed to walk around till we found a private place in the park then(stupid me again) asked if I could kiss her. needless to say it was kind of awkward and lasted about 3 seconds. But here's the funny thing. on the way back home we sat in the very back(we were being driven, I don't have a car) and at first she swore that I wouldn't get to touch her down there and that I'd be lucky to get to feel her boobs. Well when we were in the car I was sorta acting like a little puppy pawing at her for a feel( I was such a...dumb ass!)

-she insisted on no and I gave up then tried to talk about other things. About five minutes into this new conversation she said I was allowed to feel anywhere above the waist. I didn't hesitate and immediately went to work. at this point I finally grew a pair and decided to try something I thought was tactful. I massaged her breasts and nipples with moves I saw in a porno. and then I started testing the waters by occasionally and more frequently moving them downstairs. she was giving me that "hey" look but I told her "I'm not going below the belt" with a new found confidence :D

- Eventually she let me go downstairs but with only about five minutes left before she got home..she didn't "get home"

Well anyway recently it's gone back to the not talking on the phone and since she lives far away and I STILL don't have a car plus i'm in college, I don't see much more of a chance coming for us to really do anything. I do have one last chance. our family does a show for thanksgiving where we get to do a song and dance and she's coming. do you think I have a shot or do the clues tell me I should give up?(Oh..one more hint. even though she says she prefer girls and has even been in a hotel room with a cute one on a school trip, she doesn't let them touch her down there, or so she says_o)
Oh , and if you're wondering why this is in the LGBT category...I always feel like you guys know something I don't. Get really insightful answers here.

Question #18:

Edit my sentence please?

can you tell me if i need to make a whole new paragraph for the "quote" or if it's fine how it is within this paragraph?

After touching ground with the earth-a familiarity I could finally say I knew-and picking up the faded luggage packed full with my most important needs, I staggered behind my high school's choir group, taking in every whiff of a hot dog stand and admiring the large sea of taxis colored similar to honey bees. “Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to New York City”, announced my choir instructor, “the city that never sleeps”.
Here's what i've got so far...
Taking in every whiff of the hot dog stands and admiring the large sea of taxis, colored similar to honey bees, I slowly erased the false sketch in my mind known as the “City of Light.”
“Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to New York City!”, announced my choir instructor, “This” she said, motioning with her arms in a slow side-to-side manner, “is the City that Never Sleeps.”
Shuffling into the Grand Hyatt hotel, with a large water fountain, painted gold pillars, and two escalators welcoming us in the entry way, I could see marvel in all of the Granbury students' faces from such a breathtaking luxury place.
“Here, one for every group of three”, interrupted one of the chaperones, handing us an engraved, golden key as we stood cold footed and daydreaming. Without a word spoken from me or the other two singing tourists, our lead chaperone pointed up, “The three of you girls will be on the twenty first floor, second door on the right” and nudged us in the direction of our personalized room- number 432.
After a whole afternoon of settling into this “Land of Surprising Contrasts”, bright hotel room lights transformed into gray rays from the moon, sneaking through every window's curtains, trying not to pierce it's occupants- whom were sleeping through the florescent night. Laying in bed, I slowly began to see the moon's soft rays flashing on the walls, also hypnotizing me.
The frog's hopping beneath the heart of my chest was transforming into a slow croak, but now the emptiness of the darkened room's skies echoed with fluttering of butterflies, anxiously, up and down, left to right, within the walls of my tired stomach. When I wake up, Carnegie Hall will be beneath the heals of my platformed feat- I thought as I slowly drifted off into soft sleep.
Hair doo's with make-up and bow ties with slacks entangled every singer's vibrant morning. Our collection of high schoolers were murmuring every last piece of memorized music into their clustered brains. Now side-by-side, like a pack of sled dogs, smiling and standing proud, the curtain before our very eyes introduced us to an exploding crowed. Now, silence and a synchronized cough encouraged our choir to begin. Up, went the hand of our choir instructor, and our choir gasped for air. Off we went, dancing through the choreographed rhythms, like a flag waving strong in the wind. With as fast as our voices shouted to the tops of every carpeted seat, we were beginning to remember that this moment was only momentary.
Down, went the hand of our choir instructor, but our choir's hearts still raced with her beat. At that moment I realized that this was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity, and by singing in this great temple of music I was actually playing a part in Carnegie Hall history.
Up, row by row the congregation stood, as if they were apart of the flowing waves in the sea, crackling with applause, as my name floated into Carnegie Hall's memory.
